Eat It: Shannon Martinez Goes National

Chef Shannon Martinez joins Cam on Eat It to talk taking her vegan food national. Best known for the Melbourne institution Smith & Daughters, Shannon reveals plans for new venues, a wholesale brand, and the next chapter of her plant-based enterprise.

What began as helping a friend with advice on starting a vegan business has turned into a full partnership, and rapid expansion. Next up is Smith + Deli on Degraves Street, designed as a fast-moving city deli serving curries, soups, salads and strong coffee to the steady stream of CBD foot traffic. Brisbane is also on the radar, with home delivery across Victoria already in the works.

Through whirlwind growth, Shannon keeps her feet on the ground in the garden; where tomatoes can be moody, chillies are thriving, and excess harvests turn into homemade ferments and delicious sauces.
