Triple R's first station manager Sue Mathews joins the Breakfasters in the final days of Radiothon 2026 to talk Triple R's early days and perseverance over 50 years.

The first Radiothon happened in 1978, when RMIT funding-cuts threatened the stations closure. They raised $35,000 and people knew Triple R was here to stay.

Crediting the volunteers and not-for-profit status as the secret to Triple R's ongoing success, Sue sees the station as having grown and evolved with Melbourne, and is proud of its relevancy today.
