Listen to A Dolphin Named Jock and whales - from exploding carcasses to migration season37:5218 September 2022

The Beach is back! Fresh from his summering in Europe, Dr Beach joins Bron and Rex for this week’s Marinara to talk about the value of decomposing whales, new tech for deep dives, the transforming power of dolphins and the beginning of the 2022 whale migration season. Rex brings us the latest techniques for diving deep wrecks using mixed gases and re-breathers. This is the new cutting edge of diving, enabling divers to dive wrecks off the coast of Australia. The 2022 east coast whale migration season has begun! Humpbacks and southern right whales are beginning their annual epic journeys down the east coast of Australia to Antarctica for the summer. Dave Donnelly from the Dolphin Research Institute brings us the latest. The gang speak with award winning journalist, documentary producer and author Melody Horrill, about her memoir ‘A Dolphin Called Jock’, in which her volunteer research work and experiences with an injured solitary Port River dolphin led to multiple life changing events.
