Listen to 1850s Seabathing, Friendly Jellyfish & Arctic Research38:413 April 2022

Bron, Dr Beach and Rex talk seabathing in the 1850s, friendly jellyfish and current problems with Arctic research…

• Rex Hunter talks sea bathing in Port Melbourne during the gold rush era – once an exclusive affair, but then going through democratisation with the opening of the Railway baths in 1861.

• If you’ve ever thought about a career in the marine environment, you’ll want to attend next week’s ‘My friend the Jellyfish’ event, to be hosted next Saturday 9th April by the Australian Marine Sciences Association’s Victorian branch. We speak with current graduate students Chantel Foord and Morgan Ellis , Victorian student representatives of AMSA about this great annual event, what you can expect and what’s currently hot in graduate marine research.

• And Dr Beach brings news that Arctic marine science is in jeopardy, another consequence of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
