Listen to Vertebrate Fossils, Spidercrabs, Living Plastic free & Rex Hunter46:589 August 2020

•Ben Francischelli, vertebrate paleontologist, joins us to talk about some recent marine vertebrate fossils found made before Melbourne’s lockdown, plus an exploration of the ethics of fossil collecting in the area.
•We catch up with PT Hirschfield to talk about the Save-Our-Spidercrabs campaign, continuing throughout Stage 4 lockdown.
•Back in 2011, Rebecca Prince-Ruiz had a novel idea, and asked her colleagues to join her in a personal challenge to live life without plastic for a month. What followed was a global movement of 250 million people in 177 countries to reduce their plastic use. ‘Plastic Free’ documents the birth of one of the world’s most successful environmental, and we’ll speak with its author Joanna Atherfold Finn along with co-author and founder Rebecca Prince-Ruiz.
• And Rex Hunter, our resident maritime archaeologist, will talk about the time ball tower at Williamstown and what an important navigation aid it was in the 1850s.
