Listen to Eat It - 14 May 201754:3214 May 2017

On today's show we went on the road to a town called Lindenow, and caught up with Stuart Greig about the East Gippsland Vegetable Innovation Day, bringing together an enormous number of seeds and vegetable varietals in one of Australia's best growing regions.

As the weather gets colder it's a good time to think about how to make the best use of the remaining Summer and Autumn produce, and we replayed an interview from last year with broadcaster and farmer Matthew Evans. His book Not Just Jam focusses on how best to make preserves, and we spoke about some of his tips to get the best results.

We finished the show with an extended chat with UK food writer and Masterchef judge Jay Rayner. We spoke about his books including the recent release The Ten Food Commandments, as well as his journey into food journalism and what keeps him interested in the industry.

About this program

Food for thought: recipes, hints and tips, interviews and a market report.

It's one of those constants in this fair city; every Sunday at midday tune into the best radio station on earth for Eat It, Triple R's resident food show. No-one really knows quite how many years the show has been on-air, but it's been going long enough for us all to lose track. Each week Cam Smith and Matt Steadman take an hour to discuss every aspect of food and drink, including regular market reports, interviews with chefs and restaurateurs, chats with industry and lobby groups, emptying bottles with wine-makers and writers, answering listeners' questions, the occasional on-air cooking segment, and anything else we deem fit. Sometimes we'll even squeeze in a song or two.
