Writer and director Michael Shanks joins Flick to discuss his first feature length film, Together (2025), a body horror about long-term relationships. The film follows a couple's encounter with a supernatural force after moving to the countryside and relying only on each other's company. Shanks discusses the transition from making short films to feature films, how the film's themes overlap with common experiences during COVID-19 lockdowns, and how they created visual effects on a low budget. The film included about 160 visual effects, and Shanks made 130 of them on a zero budget.

"Everyday we were doing something that nobody had ever quite done before, and we were working it out as we went. It was really, really joyous."
