Off The Record: Joe Camilleri on Six Decades of Songs & Stories
Australian music legend Joe Camilleri joins Off the Record to look back on 60 years in the business and his new 21-track release, The Quintessential Black Sorrows.
Friends for over forty years, Joe and Brian share memories of the good old days: The Prince in St Kilda, Bob Dylan tributes, and the transition from Jo Jo Zep’s commercial success to the Southern-Louisiana-inspired sound of The Black Sorrows.
Joe, 77, reflects on a career that has spanned the King Bees, the Adderley Smith Blues Band, Jo Jo Zep and the Falcons, and twenty Black Sorrows albums.
“If the record goes well, the band think they made it. If it doesn’t, they sack the producer”.
The Quintessential Black Sorrows is out now.
