Future Perfect: Australia's Worsening Poverty Statistics

A new report into poverty in Australia from the Australian Council of Social Service has found that 1 in 7 Australians are now living in poverty.

Dylan Bird is joined by Dan from Anti-Poverty Network South Australia and Dr Yuvisthi Naidoo, social policy researcher at the University of New South Wales, to unpack the report's findings, what it’s like to live in poverty from a firsthand perspective, and what the government can do to address poverty and housing inequality in Australia.

“It’s crippling to be living with not enough, and that has psychological impacts that effect the body and the mind and the social fabric, and all of those can be mended with some kind of more compassionate policies from our government.”
