Future Perfect: Treaty In Victoria And The State Of The Vic Liberal Party
Last week, Victoria became the first state or territory in Australia to introduce a treaty with traditional owners to its Parliament.
Dylan Bird is joined by Benita Kolovos, Victorian state correspondent for Guardian Australia, to get into the significance of the treaty to Australia’s history and the years of work that got it to Parliament, the international precedent for treaty, as well as a check-in on the state of Victorian Liberal party following their state conference.
“If [the treaty bill] does pass – and it sounds like it will – we’re going to tbe the first state in the country to acquit voice, treaty and truth, which are the reforms of the Uluru statement from the heart.”
