Breaking And Entering: EXEK's Experimental New Record 'Prove The Mountains Move'
Lauren and Simon are joined by Melbourne post-punk band, EXEK’s, Albert Wolski to discuss the release of their new album Prove The Mountains Move under iconic New York Record Label, DFA Records.
Three years since their last studio album and release of their special live album, Live at RRR, EXEK releases an experimental, synth and guitar-driven record. Albert discusses the band's experimental writing processes from their unconventional approach to lyric writing to sourcing sounds from household items and field recordings.
Albert also shares the inspirations that shape EXEK's distinct sound, including his love of cinema and drawing inspiration from film scores such as Under The Skin and Video Drome, elemental forces and scientific journals.
"[The album is] experimental in its craft, but it may not necessarily sound experimental."
Catch the album launch of EXEK's Prove The Mountains Move at The Curtin, Saturday 14 March.
