Breaking and Entering: Acopia on Friendship, Transience, and the Things Left Unsaid

Acopia is the collaborative project of Kate Durman, Lachlan McGeehan and Morgan Wright; an intimate excursion of ultra-emotive dream pop, trip hop, downtempo electronica and minimal post punk. Their third album Blush Response was recorded over a year in two local studios, including an abandoned South Yarra office building scheduled for demolition. The band noted that the fragility of the location gave the entire process a strange, bittersweet edge that directly influenced the record. Lyrically, the album explores unresolved emotions and the heavy weight of things left unsaid.

Two members of the Naarm trio Kate Durman and Morgan Wright recently stopped by Breaking and Entering to chat with Lauren. They opened up about their recent travels and explained why friendship remains the core foundation of the band.

Acopia play a sold out show at The Night Cat Friday 26 June.
