Breakfasters: Fjorn Bastos on Blak Pearl's Annual Exhibition

The Fakefasters (Clara, Scout, and Carlson) chat with Fjorn Bastos, project lead at Blak Pearl Studios, a creative drop-in space for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. They chat about Blak Pearl's vital work in providing a culturally safe space grounded in grassroots community values, to support the emotional and structural needs of Aboriginal people in the region who have a healthy mistrust in systems and limited access to mainstream creative sector opportunities due to socioeconomic disadvantage, discrimination, or physical and mental barriers.

Blak Pearl's upcoming annual exhibition will showcase works by artists who use the Blak Pearl Studio - including works from Aunty Colleen Beeton, Thelma Beeton, Clay Holland, Kurly, Aunty Minelle Creed and Jai Wright, Tyrhys Wirrum Wilson. The exhibition takes place from 3-31 July at Bodriggy Brewing Co, 245 Johnston St, Abbotsford VIC 3067.
