This will be a multidisciplinary approach with low, or zero emission fuels and a return to sail. At present several shipping lines are returning to the days of old, building new commercial sailing vessels, and retro-fitting sails to bulk carriers. One outstanding company is Neoliner. This French business is investing serious money into building a fleet of auxiliary sailing ships. Its flagship Neoliner Origin made its debut in October 2025, crossing the Atlantic with a cargo of vehicles.
