First guest is Drew Barry who is a Bafta and Emmy-award-winning Drew Berry has been a biomedical animator at the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute for 20 years. Drew's animations bring to life biological processes that are difficult for people to comprehend and impossible to observe. Drew was awarded the MacArthur fellowship AKA 'Genius Grant' to pursue his work in science communication. This fellowship has recently come to a close and Drew is reflecting on all that it has enabled him to achieve. Guest 2 Professor Andrew Tonkin from Monash University Cardiovascular disease is still the number one killer in Australia, despite ongoing efforts in prevention and treatment. A major national Monash University collaboration is now testing whether a safe, one-off vaccination can help to reduce the risk of heart attacks and strokes. Guest 3 is Georgia Atkin-Smith, PhD Candidate from the La Trobe Institute for Molecular Science at La Trobe University Georgia's research focuses on the understanding how white blood cells die. This research project combines novel cell biological techniques with immunological assays to understand the implications of cell death within our immune system.
