Thank You is the long awaited debut solo album from American artist, rapper and Beastie Boy, Mike D, out now via Capitol Records.

Thank You is the first album released by a Beastie Boy since the death of Adam “MCA” Yauch from cancer in 2012, marking a significant new chapter in the story of one of hip hop's pioneering forces. 

Rather than looking backwards, Mike D takes the well worn blueprint he helped create and breathes new life into his musical legacy.  The album was made with a new generation of musicians in backing band 5D - a band led by his two sons Skyler and Davis Diamond - giving the songs an infectious energy more akin to a brand new project than an artist four decades into his career. . 

Sounding perfectly at home in the genre agnostic age of the 2020s, the album contains an exhilarating blend of electro-punk and industrial rap, with Mike D’s unmistakable voice guiding us through the chaos. 

Mortality and grief are constant themes running through Thank You, imbuing even the most frenetic songs on the album with a sense of catharsis . 

Reflecting on the grief that underpins the album, Mike D states “Part of ageing is this thing of your own mortality. You can push it away and ignore it, or acknowledge it and feel what you’re feeling.” The album's strength lies in the creative energy that this emotional vulnerability helped create, ensuring Mike D's return is not just for show.
