The True Story of Bananagun is the debut full-length from Melbourne group Bananagun. The record translates the energy and invention of their renowned live sets, fusing Tropicália, Afro-beat, psychedelia, garage and pop traditions. Amongst the fuzzy guitar tones, playfully percussive grooves and bright melodies is a 90 second track called Bird Up! featuring samples of kookaburra and parrot calls recorded in the region surrounding band-founder Nik Van Bakel's home. It reflects Banangun's deep love of nature and the power of song in all its forms.
