Uncommon Sense: Dr Alexa Scarlata on today's TV viewing habits and local content concerns

Dr Alexa Scarlata talks about the shifts in viewership away from traditional linear TV services to catch-up and subscription services, and how this affects both the revenues of local broadcasters and the local content being made and consumed in Australia.

Scarlata is Lecturer in Digital Communication at RMIT University, Melbourne. She is a scholar of media and cultural industries, and recently she co-convened a symposium at RMIT called “100 years of broadcast TV – what can we learn heading into an uncertain future?”

Her research considers internet-distributed television, content production and national screen policy.
