Uncommon Sense: Clinton Fernandes on Iran, Oil Politics, and Australia's Support for the War

Clinton Fernandes joins Nick Feik to discuss the war in Iran – the causes (both stated and unstated), the dynamics and likely impacts.

Fernandes is an Australian historian, a former intelligence officer, and an academic. He is professor of international and political studies at the University of New South Wales and he's also an author. His latest book Turbulence: Australian Foreign Policy in the Trump Era was released a few months ago, but it has renewed - critical - relevance in light of the war on Iran.

He argues that America’s motivations in the Middle East are not so much about controlling the nuclear threat of Iran but rather about controlling the world's oil supplies. The impacts of the war for oil supremacy will be global too.
