Uncommon Sense: Ben McLeod on Gas Prices, Power Bills and Climate Impacts

The Climate Council has released a report called “Power Games: Who’s Driving High Power Bills”, and its conclusions are clear: that gas is the main reason electricity prices are so high; that ageing coal-fired power stations are driving the biggest electricity spikes; and that consumers could do well to switch providers.

Ben McLeod from Climate Council talks to Nick Feik about the impact of Australia's fossil fuel addiction on power bills, and the climate ramifications of an emissions policy which ignores Australia's massive coal and gas export trade.

Ben McLeod is Climate Council's Senior Economic and Policy Advisor, and has previously advised State and Federal governments.
