The Grapevine: The Enduring Friendship Of George Telek And David Bridie

In 1986 Melbourne musician David Bridie traveled to Papua New Guinea, where he heard the music of George Telek for the first time. That trip would mark the beginning of an enduring friendship and creative relationship between the pair, captured in the documentary Abebe - Butterfly Song, streaming as part of the MIFF Play program.

Kulja and Dylan are joined in the studio by David and the director of the film, Rose Jones, to discuss the making of the film, and to reflect on the extraordinary lifelong bond between the two songwriters.

Abebe - Butterfly Song is streaming as part of MIFF 2023 - head here for more details.
