The Distant Sky: The Musical Journey of Kankawa Nagarra
Kate is joined by blues singer-songwriter and Walmatjarri, Gooniyandi and Bunuba Elder Kankawa Nagarra, ahead of her Melbourne show at Coburg RSL.
From discovering country, gospel and blues music from the radio whilst working on homesteads in her early life, to controversially learning to play guitar in her 20s, and still continuing to share her stories and music at age 80, Kankawa discusses her incredible story and journey as an artist, leading her to great achievements including winning the Australian Music Prize and touring her music around the country.
