The Distant Sky: David Chesworth On Synthesizers, AI and ‘Maydena Creek’

Legendary electronic artist and producer David Chesworth sits down with guest host Renae Maxwell to chat about the concept behind his new album Maydena Creek, out now via Chapter music.

Together, they explore David's storied history with the synthesizer (including the Baldwin Fun Machine used on his latest record) and his relationship with AI and his outlook on its use in music.

“I think there’s an integrity in performing as a human – it’s like the live performance is now the most honest engagement you can have with another human being because the musician is there in front of you and you’re receiving it. Everything else seems to come out of iPhones and devices and algorithms on making decisions, and I don’t think deep down any of us really are enjoying that … it’s going to be very interesting to see how it plays out and how we subtly take on board certain AI aspects and then totally reject other ones.”

David will be launching Maydena Creek at Eastmint on November 28.
