Ette Media's Antoinette Lattouf joined Spin Cycle guest presenter, Emma Buckley Lennox to discuss the silencing of former New York Times jounrnalist, author and war correspondent, Chris Hedges.

Hedges, slated to address the National Press Club in Canberra on "The Betrayal of Palestinian Journalists", was controversially pulled from the programmed list of guest speakers.

Emma spoke with Antoinette about what happened behind the scenes, including an initial statement from the Press Club, who described Hedges' appearance as "tentative" despite signed confirmation from CEO Morris Riley and request for his head shot.

As Lattouf said, "... because of incidences in which pro-Israel lobbyists have gotten to empolyers or exerted pressure, you begin to self-censor, you begin to anticipate attacks and begin to think if you have three people critical of Israel, maybe you have to balance it out. But how do you balance it out? How do you balance the killing of journalists? How is it ever okay? How is genocide okay?".

As of August 11th, Al Jazeera reported that Israel Forces had killed more than 270 journalists and media workers since it launched its war on Gaza.
