Aaron Billings and Emilie Walsh join fill-in host Jessamy Gee to preview the Melbourne Alternative Comics Festival and celebrate Australia’s indie comic scene.

Emilie compares France’s established comic literacy with Australia’s growing momentum, highlighting how local creators like Lee Lai, Sam Wallman, and Safda Ahmed are shifting perceptions of who comics are for.

Together, they explore the festival’s dedication to the weird, handmade, and self-published, stepping away from mainstream conventions.

The Melbourne Alternative Comics Festival takes place from 9 to 11 October.
