Actor, writer and comedian Felicity Ward joins SmartArts to discuss her Melbourne International Comedy Festival show I Wish I Could Come Out of My Shell. Based in London, Felicity brings a signature candour to a show shaped by queer liberation, late-in-life change, and the joy of starting over.
She reflects on coming out in her early 40s, dating for the first time in years, and discovering a new version of herself in her “sober slutty 40s.” She discusses the way her comedy draws on whatever's in front of her: IBS, heartbreak, sex and the indignity of being human. Her messiest moments are, as she puts it, "part of the thrill".
I Wish I Could Come Out of My Shell is on at Trades Hall until 19 April.
