Reasonable Adjustments: Living with Autism in Prison, with Ashleigh Chapman and Daniel Vansetten
Clem chats with advocates Ashleigh Chapman and Daniel Vansetten about their essay for About Time, 'Living with Autism in prison', and the realities of navigating the criminal legal system while neurodivergent.
Ashleigh has autism spectrum disorder and spent 10 years in prison and two years in solitary confinement. She uses her time learning, unlearning and relearning to help and advocate for those who are incarcerated. Dan was formerly incarcerated and is now the coordinator of Level Up, an advocacy organisation assisting people understand law and legal processes. He is currently studying law, is involved in the production of several podcasts, and works closely with advocates around Australia to improve outcomes for people in prison.
