Rah! Rah! – History, Context and Change: from the Wet Ones to Wetfest

This is a recording of one of the panels that took place during ‘Rah! Rah!’, a feminist punk retrospective of the last 30 years of female, femme and non-binary sounds from this city, presented by Sonic aGender and curated by Janelle Johnstone.

‘History, Context and Change: from the Wet Ones to Wetfest’ is a winding discussion charting the past 30 years of Melbourne music through a distinctly feminist lens. Hosted by Erica Dunn and featuring panellists Susan World, Clare Moore, Penny Ikinger, Dr Kathy Sport and Mara Williams. ‘Rah! Rah!’ was MC’d by Linda J of The Dacios and Little Ugly Girls fame.

Triple R broadcast this recording on Friday 8 March, aka International Women’s Day, 2019, along with two other ‘Rah! Rah!’ panels: ‘Gendered Spaces: What Happens When We Carve Out Space?’ and ‘Locating Gender in Genre: a Feminist Punk Rock Sound?’
