Andrew Durbin is a London-based, USA-born author, poet and the editor-in-chief of frieze magazine. His book, The Wonderful World that Almost Was: A Life of Peter Hujar and Paul Thek follows the development of the intense friendship - and romance - between the two queer artists, from their first encounter in Miami to the painful end of their friendship in the mid-1970s.
Andrew discusses his love of queer history, why Peter Hujar is experiencing a renaissance, and how Susan Sontag and Andy Warhol played a role in Peter and Paul's lives.
