O'Tomorrow: Masami Kawaguchi and Tabata Mitsuru Play Live In the Studio

O'Tomorrow's DownPat opened up the RRR studios for some special live sets from both Masami Kawaguchi and Tabata Mitsuru ahead of special solo shows in Melbourne this week, while they're in Australia playing PKJE shows.

Masami Kawaguchi has been to Australia about six times in the last 10 years. Only slowed down by a few years of travel restrictions due to lockdowns.

He is known for his scorching guitar riffs, and moody ballads both solo and as the leader of Kawaguchi Masami's New Rock Syndicate. He is also currently a member of Keiji Heino and the Hardy Rocks, Los Doroncos and Usurabi and now, The Paul Kidney Japanese Experience and the AU version of the New Rock Syndicate. He is a regular fixture on Tokyo's improvised music scene, and last year, performed in a duo at Melbourne's Make It UP Club with one of his heroes, Kim Salmon. (Now available as an LP).

Tabata Mitsuru was a founding member of the Boredoms and has been coming to Australia since the late 90's as part of many of Japan's psychedelic best bands. From the unforgettable Zeni Geva show back in 97' at the Tote, to multiple Acid Mothers Temple tours and the gorgeous performance by his duo with Suzuki Junzo, 20 Gilders, a few years back at the Northcote Social Club, He is also now,  a part of the Paul Kidney Japanese Experience.
