Good Static: bbsanii, From Light to Dark on Murciélago

bbsanii joins Paul Gorrie and Lizzynice on Good Static to chat Murciélago, her new four-track EP out via Nightshop Records. Meaning “bat” in Spanish, Murciélago marks bbsanii’s first label release after a decade of self-releasing, moving through a club-focused, Latin-influenced sound that shifts from housey textures into darker techno territory.

Growing up between Melbourne and Ecuador, bbsanii talks weaving Latin rhythms into electronic music; transposing a wonky, grid-conscious take on cumbia’s loose, live-music feel. She previews her EP launch at Angel Bar, with sets from Rocky, Tina Disco, Mikaylha Ortega, Jupiter b2b Luna, Chico Techno and Jennifer Loveless.

bbsanii also takes over the mix with Brazilian funk, electro, Latin club sounds and unreleased tracks.

Murciélago is out now via Nightshop Records.
