Dylan Bird is joined by Croatia-born, Melbourne-based artist ŽIVA AKA Lucija Ivšić to chat all about her new track ‘Idle Heart’, ahead of her single launch at The Grace Darling Hotel in Melbourne on 23 May.
Through the conversation, they also touch on her upcoming album, her punk beginnings and continuing identity, her current electronic experiments, and migrating to Australia and Melbourne’s music scene.
“Živa actually means ‘To be alive’ in Croatian, so the idea was like ‘Hey, let me start exploring this identity that I left, and that is part of me, in Croatia, but also this new identity that I’m starting to create here in Australia.’”
