Future Perfect: Sovereign Citizens, The March For Australia, And The Dangers Of Extremism

Dylan Bird is joined by Josh Roose, Associate Professor of Politics at Deakin University, to get into the extremist sovereign citizen movement and how it has emerged in Australia, the recent March for Australia rallies that platformed neo-nazi, anti-migrant and white supremacist ideologies, and how policy makers could address the growing spread and dangers of extremist movements.

“There’s this inherent violence to both, inherent anti-government, they’re both conspiratorially laden … what’s occurring, particularly with the marches over the weekend, is that many people who don’t even know what these ideologies even stand for are being brought into contact with them for the first time en masse and that’s probably one of the major issues here.”
