Ahead of the federal election, Dylan Bird is joined by Fiona Patten, former Victorian MP and current lead Senate candidate for Victoria for the Legalise Cannabis Party, to chat about her motivations behind running for federal parliament, her history in cannabis law reform, the outlook for medicinal cannabis legislation and regulation moving forward in Australia, and what separates the Legalise Cannabis Party from others like The Greens.

“I think [criminalisation of cannabis possession is] a very bad law and a very arbitrary law and we need to change it … being a middle-aged white woman, I’m not being harassed by the police – it’s young Indigenous people, it’s young multicultural people and it’s generally the more marginalised of our community that are being arrested and being harassed for their cannabis use.”
