Fakefasters: Dr Jen on the Legacy of Jane Goodall
Dr Jen pays tribute to renowned primatologist and anthropologist Jane Goodall for this week's Weird Science segment. Goodall, who recently passed away at the age of 91, was considered one of the greatest scientists of our time and known for her unconventional methods of researching chimpanzees. Dr Jen dives into the fascinating details of Goodall’s early life, from needing her mother to supervise her research expeditions in Tanzania, to her activism, to founding The Jane Goodall Institute, and encouraging teenagers to fight for sustainability.
“Her work was nothing like the very clinical approach to science at the time, a lot of the time she was just watching… she was about trying to understand the personalities of the chimpanzees.”
