Ghanaian-Australian artist, musician and fellow Owusu, Immy Owusu, drops into the studio to discuss his newest album, LO-LIFE! and his journey to forge his unique Afrodelik sound.

Immy and Nana unpack Immy’s musical upbringing and how a trip to Ghana – originally to study kete music with his grandfather – led him forming a strong bond with the guitar. They discuss Immy's connection to palm wine highlife music and its distinct history, as well as how Immy’s teenage experiences playing in Torquay rock bands helped him forge his own relationship to music, outside of his family. They chat about Immy meeting Ghanaian musical legends Ebo Taylor and Pat Thomas, the different meanings behind his new album’s name, LO-LIFE! and the motivations behind his use of twi in his singing and songwriting.

Nana and Immy also drill into Immy making music and performing with his dad, how Zamrock influenced his music-making and Immy’s decade-long work to carve out his own sound – a mixture of African music and psych rock he calls, “Afrodelik”.
