Banksia: Uncle Kutcha Edwards Reflects On Waripa Ceremony And New Song 'Mother Tongue'

Mutti Mutti, Yorta Yorta, Nari Nari songman Uncle Kutcha Edwards joins Vanessa Morris for a yarn where they reflect on Waripa ceremony performed at the Forum as part of RISING, as well as new single 'Mother Tongue' ahead of their performance with the Melbourne Youth Orchestra.

In reflection of Waripa ceremony, which included performances and yarns with a range of First Nations artists, Uncle Kutcha spoke about how the Forum was transformed into a place of sacred Mutti Mutti country, connection and the dreaming.

Waripa brought together an all-Aboriginal line-up and production crew the first time in the Forum's history, and included artists Joe Geia and Bart Willoughby from No Fixed Address, Alice Skye, Barkaa, Bumpy, Culture Evolves, Dobby, Eleanor Dixon, Emily Wurramara, Linc Yow Yeh, Maylene, Mo’Ju, Sue Ray, David Arden, Jay Jarome Bushby, Kamahi, Shellie Morris and more.

Uncle Kutcha is performing with the Melbourne Youth Orchestra at the Melbourne Recital Centre on 18 June and performing his album Circling Time at the Sydney Opera House during NAIDOC on 7 July.
