Banksia: Tony Albert on 5th National Indigenous Art Triennial: After the Rain

Girramay/Yidinji/Kuku-Yalanji artist Tony Albert joined Vanessa on Banksia to talk about the 5th National Indigenous Art Triennial: After the Rain.

Tony spoke about the significance of the name After the Rain which resonate with ideas about rebirth and cycles of cleansing, as well as the visual identity of the exhibition which features a work by Aretha Brown.

The pair also spoke about different works created and featured thouought the After The Rain including the House of Namatjira at the heart of show which honours the legacy of Namatjira which features work by Albert Namatjira, Hermannsburg Potters, Iltja Ntjarra Art Centre and Vincent Namatjira. As well as Vincent Namatjira's painted portraits of each artist.

After the Rain features 10 large-scale, immersive and multidisciplinary installations that celebrate intergenerational legacies and cultural warriors of the past, present and future, and tell stories through the universal language of visual art.

Tony is an established contemporary and multidisciplinary artist with a longstanding interest in the cultural misrepresentation of Aboriginal people.
