Award-winning choreographer and performer Ghenoa Gela joins Vanessa Morris on Banksia to talk all about performance GURR ERA OP.

GURR ERA OP which means “the face of the sea” in Meriam Mir and is a celebratory sharing of culture and a call to action in the face of climate devastation, interweaving hybrid Torres Strait Islander contemporary storytelling, movement and spoken word.

Ghenoa also spoke about working with Force Majeure and ILBIJERRI Theatre Company’s Amy Sole and Rachael Maza AM in the development of GURR ERA OP - as well as the stage set design which includes 75% of recycled and repurposed materials.
