Banksia: Bumpy reflects on debut full-length release Kanana

Noongar soul artist Bumpy joined Vanessa Morris on Banksia to talk all about debut full length record Kanana.

Featuring singles Maambakoort, Kanana, Cosy Comfy and Feel Good, Kanana took shape as Bumpy returned to Noongar Boodja with her mother to reconnect with Country where she traced the footsteps of her Elders, including her late Nan Rose Whitehurst, who wrote the first Noongar dictionary.

Kanana is a record that celebrates, community, connection and a family legacy that runs through the record including siblings proving vocals Ben who plays drums and also helped write a number of tracks.

Bumpy also spoke about what they've been upto over the past 12 months since her performance Tooni - where she has since played shows in the UK, Japan, Canada and up next, Aotearoa.

Bumpy is performing at the Royal Theatre in Castlemaine on 25 October
