Yorta Yorta/Gunaikurnai theatremaker Andrea James about The Black Woman of Gippsland launching at the Melbourne Theatre Company and presented as part of YIRRAMBOI until 31 May.

The Black Woman of Gippsland is a performance which tells a gripping modern mystery from so-called Victoria’s dark past, written and directed by Andrea and set on her grandmother’s country.

Also writing and directing Sunshine Super Girl about Wiradjuri tennis player Evonne Goolagong Cawley in 2022, Andrea spoke about her dedication to supporting the voice of First Nations women through her work in theatre and the growth in blak theatre.

The Black Woman of Gippsland is on until 31 May
