Shaun Tan is an illustrator, writer, Academy Award-nominated filmmaker and author of The Red Tree, which celebrates its 25th Anniversary this year. Speaking ahead of an exhibition of the original The Red Tree paintings at Beinart Gallery, Shaun discusses his beginnings as an illustrator and his experimentation with darkness, anxiety and strangeness.
