Jane Clifton (Stiletto, The Toads) joins Clara in the studio to reflect on Melbourne’s vibrant inner-city countercultural rock scene of the 1970s. They reminisce about The Toads, an underrated glam/prog band that became a regular fixture around Carlton’s pubs and backrooms, but left behind only a handful of recordings.
One official track appears on the compilation When The Sun Sets Over Carlton, while a few other rare recordings are also feautured on the Pure Shit soundtrack, the gritty 1975 cult film that would later inspire Dogs in Space.
Jane shares her memories of those electric nights, filled with music, rebellion, and what it meant to be a woman forging a path in the male dominated world of rock.
