Hear a special performance from Luritja singer-songwriter Keanu Nelson, recorded live from RISING Festival's Day Tripper event last month. Hosted by Paul Gorrie from Good Static.

Nelson is from the artistically rich community of Papunya, northwest of Alice Springs. He released his debut album Wilurarrakutu in 2023 via Hobart's ALTERED STATES TAPES, which was then re-issued on a wider scale on vinyl last year. Produced and recorded in Papunya by Sydney producer Yuta Matsumura, the minimalist DIY Casio beats provide the perfect canvas for Nelson to transpose the stories from his notebook - sung in both Language and occasional English - into sound.

Also a semi-regular painter at the Papunya Tjupi Arts Centre, Nelson's album can be seen as another manifestation of the intense creativity evident in his community, wherein dreamings of traditional culture, family and home are dominant themes.
