Presents Culture Shock
Wake up with a spoonful of gravel. If you don't know where the culture is headed, it's gonna leave you behind. Forever chasing the new noise, and unearthing where it came from.
How did you first connect with Triple R?
My friend Jim was doing a summer show with Beź (who now hosts Represented) called Vocal Minority. They were unpacking the history of colonialism and the ensuing racism in Australia without pulling any punches, right in the middle of the day! I was like damn this station knows what's up. I was introduced to Beź and ended up doing graveyards soon after.
What/when was your first show?
Culture Shock is my first show! Before that I was doing graveyards, but I started during 2021 lockdown. I didn't see another soul at the station for like 6 months.
What's your favourite Triple R story?
There's a legend about a fire hydrant getting hit in a car accident on the road outside the building and the water shooting perfectly through one of the windows and flooding the building. Chaos ensued, until Brian pulled an axe out of god knows where and chopped a hole in the wall to drain the whole place
Your favourite other Triple R program and why?
How High The Moon with Dan Dare. Man never misses.
What does Triple R mean to you?
Triple R is a place that actually supports minorities to have a voice. A lot of places will pretend they want you, but in reality they just want proximity to your image for their own gain. Triple R is the real deal. There's a reason it's one of the last truly independent media voices alive in this country.
The studio door has accidentally jammed shut with you stuck inside. If there was only one CD in there with you, what would you want it to be, and why?
Bruv we don't listen to CDs, get with the times. It's probably some rap songs by Earl Sweatshirt tho. Or maybe Veteran by JPEGMAFIA. Or like Pools by Zeahorse. Oh damn I forgot about To Pimp A Buttefly by Kendrick Lamar, maybe that one? Although, Doolittle by Pixies never gets old. The internet has ruined me. I still listen to full albums don't get me wrong, I just listen to all of them ya dig.
