Women and GNC Broadcasters Take Over the AiRRRwaves for International Women’s Day

25 February 2019

Tune in to Triple R all day on International Women’s Day, Friday 8 March, to hear women and GNC broadcasters and their guests taking over the airwaves.

Wake up with Sarah Smith, Geraldine Hickey and Fee B-Squared for Breakfasters from 6am to 9am. Then hear Out on the Patio’s Monique Sebire and Respect the Rock’s Nicole TadPole team up. They’ll feature audio recorded from the Rah! Rah! Feminist Punk Rock Retrospective of Melbourne Music that took place earlier this year at the Speigeltent.

After that, join talk back with Uncommon Sense host Amy Mullins. Then it’s time for a crew of clever clogs: Radio Marinara’s Bron Burton, Byte Into IT’s Vanessa Toholka and Einstein A Go-Go & Breakfasters’ scientific brains trust Dr Jen. In the arvo, Lauren Taylor (Breaking and Entering) and Jazz Feldy (Good Fortune) hit the airwaves – then it’s over to our resident story-lovers: Mel Cranenburgh (Backstory), Bethany Atkinson-Quinton (The Glasshouse) and Bec Fary (SleepTalker). A rousing discussion of all things film and screen-related will follow, with Zero-G’s Megan McKeogh, along with Cerise Howard and Emma Westwood from Plato’s Cave. Then, Twang’s Denise Hylands will join Neon Sunset’s Annaliese Redlich in the studio, before Emerald Cowell (Tomorrow Never Knows), Clem Bastow (Superfluity) and Nereaders Digest (Livewire) will come together for an hour of free-association radio!

At 7pm we’ll cross live to the Performance Space and kick into party-mode with a showcase of local women and GNC musical legends during Dropout Boogie with Zara Kravchenko. We’ll be enjoying live sets from V, Moody Beaches, Racerage and Evelyn Ida Morris (aka Pikelet) till 10pm. We’ll then kick on till midnight with spinner of excellent tunage, Kim Little, aka HNYMLK, aka host of Mixed Signals.

We can’t wait! Do drop us a line, if you’re keen to join us for the special broadcast during Dropout Boogie in the Performance Space (remember to include your full name and subscriber number in the subject line) – and be sure to tune in all day for some bloody brilliant radio.
