There's just two days of April Amnesty remaining, so we figured we should entice you to subscribe than a bloody good Live at RRR announcement!

First up, it's a Grand Ole Twang!

Saturday 4 May 2024 marks exactly 40 years since Denise Hylands (OAM) walked into the Triple R studios fresh out of high school!

What better way to celebrate this enormous milestone than to barnstorm into the Triple R Performance Space for a Grand Ole Twang, live from 2-4pm!

Joining Triple R's first lady of country is a star-studded line-up, including the Twang House Band - James Ellis & The Jealous Guys. Plus, performances from Henry Wagons, Hana & Jessie-Lee’s Bad Habits, Kerryn Fields and Matt Joe Gow, and The Linda Ronstadt Show (featuring Ella Hooper & Deadnecks). And, special guest announcements from Tim Thorpe of Vital Bits.

Come along and thank Denise in person for all of her hard work, dedication and fabulous country music she has shared with us over so many years.

Then, on Friday 10 May, come along for a kaleidoscopic Live at RRR with J. McFarlane's Reality Guest, hosted by Sam Cummins of Press Colour.

Expect a mix of otherworldly synths, smoky jazz keys, and abstract breakbeats as McFarlane and co-writer Thomas Kernot play songs from their recent Triple R Album of the Week, Whoopee. It’s a stylistic shift for the Naarm/Melbourne multi-instrumentalist, offering a new school of surrealist pop that echoes the peak of 90s/2000s sounds.

The following week, we host Jess Ribeiro on Friday 17 May, hot off the plane from her European tour, hosted by Anthony Carew of The International Pop Undergeround.

Following the release of her new album Summer of Love, Jess Ribeiro will present an intimate set of sparse folk songs and rock ballads exploring isolation, loss, love, and healing.

On Friday 24 May, prepare for a special Live at RRR performance by RONA., hosted by Ethan Savage of Feel The Floor.

RONA., a Kaytetye producer and DJ, is known for her meditative dance music that merges the soundscapes of Country with innovative production techniques. Fresh from a recent Boiler Room set, and the release of new single, "Be My Medicine," Rona will bring a mix of euphoric melodies, spacious atmospherics, and stories of strength, and community through her music.

And finally, rounding out the month on Tuesday 28 May at 7pm, Literati Glitterati launches its monthly book club with a special live edition in the Triple R Performance Space! Drink cheap beer, gab with your fellow subscribers and command the roving mic as we unpack the inaugural book of the month: Dorothy Porter’s iconic lesbian crime thriller, The Monkey’s Mask.

Celebrating thirty years since its 1994 release, this modern Australian classic is gritty, sensual and pioneering in form, told in short verses that hit like your favourite song lyrics.

Joined by special guests RVG’s Romy Vager, Worms Book Club’s Hayley Percy, and Dorothy’s surviving partner, award-winning novelist Andrea Goldsmith, the Literati Glitterati Salon is a new monthly book club for folks who like a good story, well told.

The only way to attend a Live at RRR show is by being a Triple R subscriber of course! Subscribe before April ends and you'll also go into the draw to win some excellent prizes.
