New Avatar is the third studio album from American left-field R&B artist Kelela, out now via Warp Records. 

True to form, Kelela continues to transcend genre on her latest effort, blending newfound shoegaze and grunge elements into her trademark forward-thinking electronic production.

The songs on the album reflect Kelela's early days in the Washington D.C. indie scene, before she pivoted to the minimalist club and left-field electronic music that has come to define her career. 

Speaking of the new album, Kelela states that her intention was to "build the types of musical tapestries that are neither here nor there.” New Avatar successfully fills the brief, creating new intersections in electronic and dance music. 

The end result is a culmination of a sound that pulls from every facet of Kelela's musical identity, proving yet again she is an artist working at the vanguard of modern pop music.
