The Yael Zamir Quintet presents an evening celebrating Roland Kirk’s extraordinary contributions to jazz flute and multi-instrumentalism.
A deeply spiritual artist, Roland Kirk often drew inspiration from his dreams—including one in which he played multiple saxophones at once. Driven by this vision, he customised his instruments and taught himself the technique at just 16. He became renowned for his ability to play several horns simultaneously as well as for his vivid and expressive approach to the flute. Kirk remains one of the most original and eccentric voices in jazz history.
Expect a full swing band celebrating Kirk’s vibrant flute and saxophone playing alongside original compositions. A night of virtuosic jazz and unforgettable musical moments awaits.
