Debut gig of Michael McNab’s mixtape/performance project Hollow Icons.

Around 2015 Michael began crafting sound collages using youtube tabs as an instrument. This evolved into the composition of mixtapes that layer existing artists’ tracks in a frenetic yet oddly harmonious style.

This performance will feature projections of live props and effects accompanied by a new mixtape. Sets also from AV club-lounge-dream-mind Bad Ambulance, and Tom Stewart-Toner playing classical music for guitar and computer.

Mamma Chen’s acknowledges the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung and the Bunurong peoples of the Kulin Nation, the true owners of the land that we live and operate on. We would like to pay our respects to their Elders past and present and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
